Financial items from across the world wide web
It’s Sunday, so that means alot of football watching for me today. We have family in town this week for the Thanksgiving holiday, so we all will be going over to a friend’s house to watch football on Direct TV. While perusing the financial web today, I came across some good articles from the pf blogosphere and some news sites as well.
Flexo at Consumerism Commentary wrote about taking control of your finances, a series he has been conducting during the past few weeks. On Friday, he wrote about getting out of debt. This article discusses good vs. bad debt, and taking the appropriate steps to pay-down debt and change your leveraged lifestyle.
Chattywomen wrote about what to eat on Thanksgiving if you are a vegetarian. To me, this doesn’t seem like it would be too difficult, other than removing the turkey portion of the meal. One substitute that they wrote about was Tofurkey, a tofu based food.
Bllueprint for Financial Prosperity discussed “Quicken 2009: The Missing Manual by Bonnie Biafore.” I am not a Quicken junkie either, as the writer discussed in the article also, but a better manual for Quicken would be a great tool for anyone who is attempting to manage their personal finances more effectively and efficiently.
CNN Money had an article this week regarding 401(k) losses and how your retirement portfolio may need a more transparent strategy. The increased transparency that the article discusses relates to your conversation with your financial advisor. Ensure your current advisor is going to be in business going forward, and also test them. Ask them the hard questions and don’t take vague answers. Ask for more. First, do your own homework. Make sure that you do your own research so that you are educated enough to ask the right questions.
President-elect Obama is starting to put together his Economic team, as detailed by CNBC. Timothy Geithner is expected to be appointed as Treasury Secretary and Larry Summers is expected to be his top economic advisor in the White House.
More to come next week about the personal financial world, and how to get control of your finances, and Run Your Life Like A Business.
