Android vs. iPhone…Google vs. Apple…Schmidt vs. Jobs…
All I want is the truth…..YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
A few good men….great movie. But, what I am really after here is whether or not the Android truly surpassed the iPhone in terms of sales in the United States. I think the Android system has a great thing going, but I cannot imagine it really surpassing the iPhone at this point. I know Verizon (VZ) has a much larger subscriber base than AT&T (T), but really?
According to Apple (AAPL), “”This is a very limited report on 150,000 U.S. consumers responding to an online survey and does not account for the more than 85 million iPhone and iPod touch customers worldwide,” said Apple spokeswoman Natalie Harrison.”
Natalie also stated “the iPhone far outsells Android on a worldwide basis, and pointed to a report from IDC last week which showed the iPhone with a 16.1 percent global market share, behind No. 2 RIM and No. 1 Nokia. We had a record quarter with iPhone sales growing by 131 percent and with our new iPhone OS 4.0 software coming this summer, we see no signs of the competition catching up any time soon.”
So, back to my original question, can I have the truth?
Joy of Tech did a very neat comic on iPhone vs. Google Android recently.
Full disclosure: I do own a Macbook. I do own a Blackberry 8830 World Edition (aka “the brick”). I do heart the iPhone. I do wish the iPhone was available on the Verizon network.
What kind of smart phone, if any, do you utilize?
I leave you with some humor. The E*TRADE baby…
